The WiZ system is comprised of various parts.
- Software interfaces, such as the WiZ app, are used to add products, manage user access to their homes, or control lights and change their settings. The WiZ app is the most comprehensive interface of the system.
- Devices are products that get controlled by the system and report their status to it. Most devices are lights, but some specific markets may also offer fans, smart plugs, connected switches or home monitoring cameras. Devices need to connect to the Wi-Fi and to the Internet to be registered in the WiZ cloud and be controllable from anywhere in the world.
- Accessories are products designed to control devices, either automatically (e.g. PIR motion sensor) or through user input (e.g. Dial Switch). Among accessories, you will find remote controls, dimmer switches, motion sensors or even contact sensors. Most of them communicate only with the lights and do not connect to the Internet, which is why they require at least one light to be installed in the home prior to their setup. Some accessories – such as the contact sensor – intermittently connect to the Wi-Fi and the Internet since some of their features require a cloud connection to be fully operational. Note that motion sensing via SpaceSense and via PIR sensor share the same settings defining how lights react to motion.
- Homes are the logical entities within which all products are installed. Any home can have multiple users, and different user roles are available: owners, users and guests. A product can only be installed in one home at a time. In other words, setting up a product in a new home will automatically remove it from the home it was currently part of. A given user can be a member of multiple homes at once. Users can be added to a home by creating invitations. Rooms are other logical entities used to organize devices inside a home and adjust their functionalities. A device can only belong to one room at a time.
